OGUNLANA, RAMINBA CONDEMNS REPRESSION OF PRO- AMOTEKUN PROTESTERS IN LAGOS, DECRY ATTACKS ON DEMOCRATIC SPACE

Ogunlana Adesina Ademola, Chairman of Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association and presidential aspirant in the forthcoming 2020 national elections of the Nigerian Bar Association has condemned the repression of protesters who gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi
Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos State for a Solidarity Walk in support of the Operation Amotekun, the Western Regional Security Network launched recently by Governors of Southwest States.

In a statement issued by Ayo Ademiluyi , the Secretary of Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association and Director of Media, Strategy, Publicity and Communications of #RadicalBar2020, the attack on the Solidarity Walk by hundreds of operatives of Department of State Services and Nigerian Police Force is roundly condemnable.

According to media reports, the venue of the Solidarity Walk was besieged by Armoured Personnel Carrier and other scores of vans with gun-totting uniformed officers and men in plain clothes.Equally , participants on the ground were arrested and detained for a period of time before being released including a legal practitioner, Oladotun Hassan , a member of Epe Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The statement condemned the infringement of the right to peaceful assembly. The statement decried the growing constriction of Civic and Democratic space under Major General Muhammadu Buhari-led regime.
