Mr. Ogunlana Adesina Ademola , the Chairman of
the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association and presidential
candidate in the 2020 National Elections of the Nigerian Bar Association has
called for the immediate release of Kunle AWOMA ESQ, a legal practitioner and
member of the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, who has been in
the custody of the Anti-Cultism Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and
Intelligence Department (SCIID) of the Lagos State Command of the
Nigerian Police Force based on a criminal complaint of making advertisements as
regards an instrument of Power of Attorney in relation to his client's landed
property, based on the instructions of his clients.
In a statement issued by Ayo Ademiluyi, the Secretary of
Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA) and Director
of Media, Strategy, Publicity and Communications of #ProgressiveBar2020, Mr.
Ogunlana expressed dissatisfaction with the humiliation and indignity that Mr.
KUNLE AWOMA has gone through while performing his professional duties
to his client.
According to the statement, Mr. KUNLE AWOMA has been detained
for five days running, after reporting to the Force Headquarters Annex, Kam
Salem House, Obalende, where he was confronted with a petition submitted to
the office of the Inspector General of Police alleging him of forgery of
documents with which he is using to prosecute some civil matters that he has been handling for some time.
He was subsequently detained before being taken to the
horrible detention cells of the Anti-Cultism Unit, where he is being kept or better put, " warehoused".
Mr. Ogunlana called on the Inspector General of Police to
order the immediate release of Kunle AWOMA ESQ.
In a related development, Mr. Ogunlana has assured all
members of the Association that if the prime leadership of the
Association is vested on him, the Association stand
with all her members both in times of grief and unwarranted suffering by
Government or any agency of Government.
