OGUNLANA, RAMINBA APPLAUDS RELEASE OF DR. JOSEPH ODOK ON BAIL, DEMANDS FOR A DATE FOR AGBA JALINGO CASE


Mr. Ogunlana Adesina Ademola , the Chairman of the Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA) and Presidential aspirant in the forthcoming 2020 national elections of the Nigerian Bar Association has welcomed the release on bail of Dr. Joseph Odok, the  legal practitioner detained over his Facebook comment on the administration of Governor Ben Ayade- led Cross Rivers State Government.

In a statement issued by Ayo Ademiluyi, the Secretary of Radical Agenda Movement in the Nigerian Bar Association (RAMINBA) and Director of Media, Strategy,  Publicity and Communications of RadicalBar2020, Dr. Joseph Odok was granted  bail by Honourable Justice Amobeda of the Federal High Court, Calabar Division will two sureties on 10 million naira bail sum. Upon perfection of same, he was released from Calabar Correctional Centre, where he has spent altogether 117 days.

Mr. Ogunlana while expressing joy at the release of Dr. Joseph Odok expressed the need to maintain vigilance until the end of the matter. It would be recalled that the matter has been adjourned to 28th and 29th January, 2020 for trial.

In a related development, Mr. Ogunlana called on the Administrative Judge of the Calabar Division of the Federal High Court, Honourable Justice Shuaibu to assign a date for the matter of Agba Jalingo, the journalist who is also in the custody of the Calabar Correctional Centre for charges bordering on terrorism and treason for criticising the administration of Governor Ben Ayade.

Mr. Ogunlana has reiterated his Radical Agenda to the Nigerian Bar Association to strengthen the Association, if placed under his watch, as a place of refuge for members of the Association at all times and in all adverse circumstances, be they unwarranted suffering in the hands of any agency or arm of Government.
